The Katie Thiroux Quartet is comprised of today’s finest talent in the world of young jazz artists. Notable performances from coast to coast at venues such as: The Kitano, Cachaca Jazz Club, The Lighthouse, Catalina’s Jazz Club, are making bassist and vocalist Katie Thiroux a recognizable point of interest. Influenced by the invigorating styles of Oscar Peterson, Ray Brown, Bill Evans and Anita O’Day, the Katie Thiroux Quartet swings hard every time. Katie’s acrobatic vocal arrangements and humbling instrumentals established their own unique style, which is why she’s regarded as one of today’s most exceptional young talents. Thiroux is also an on call sideman with her most recent performances being with celebrated drummer Terri Lyne Carrington and her group, Mosaic, which included the talent of Geri Allen and Ingrid Jensen at the 2009 Münster Jazz Festival and also a trio performance with Carrington and Dr. Billy Taylor this past January 2009. Other notable performances include the 50th Monterey Jazz Festival, Newport Beach and Vail Jazz Festivals. Miss Thiroux is a Los Angeles native and finishing her studies at Berklee College of Music in Spring 2009 to which she received the prestigious Presidential Scholarship. With her quartet, she travels, performs and conducts clinics for audiences and students alike because she feels that jazz education is necessary in keeping jazz alive and heard.
